Description:
A monster of a natural shell found in shallow tropical waters from the East coast of Africa through to the Indo-Pacific region. This gastropod generally lives partially submerged on the sandy bottom of the sea and hunts at night. It thrives on a diet of seastars and urchins and is one of the few species that will devour the invasive "Crown of Thorn" starfish providing it with protected status in the state of Queensland in Australia.

The shell is very much one of two parts: The upper outer surface being a natural cool white with a fine lace-like texture. The polished underside provides a stunning contrast in shades or apricot oranges and pinks. This twin colouration has made the helmet shell popular since the Middle Ages as the base for carving natural cameos.

Note: Whilst this is a top quality shell it is not offered as a collector's specimen. Shells may have slight imperfections on the lateral skirt.

What do Feature Sea Shells bring to a room ? Sea Shells introduce a sense of fun into any room, bringing it to life. They are tactile, quick to make friends and always have a story to tell – perfect for bathrooms, studies and living spaces .

How do you introduce Feature Shells into an interior scheme? Break the mould , feature sea shells are stunning in combination with other objects, and we don’t just mean mock weathered seaside clutter ! Give them space, less is more. Pick out colours of apricot, coral pink and natural cotton and combine with ceramics, books and treasured memories. The best thing with feature shells is that unlike redecorating a room they are not a big commitment. You can move them around until your interior design heart’s content, but don’t forget opportunities in outside garden rooms and beach huts.
